Our Inspiration
The inception of Hellenosphera was deeply personal. A close friend shared her heartfelt dilemma about her grandmother’s treasured memorabilia. Her grandmother had lived an extraordinary life, journeying from Greece to the United States by sea—a story captured in diaries and keepsakes. Without a dedicated place to honor these memories, they risked being lost to time. This conversation ignited our resolve to create Hellenosphera, ensuring that such invaluable stories have a home.
Origin of the name
The name Hellenosphera has been coined by Professor George Prevelakis, Greece’s Permanent Representative to the OECD, an emeritus professor of Geopolitics and Cultural Geography at the Sorbonne University.
I would describe the “Hellenosphera” as a new vision—that is, the integrated network of all manifestations of Hellenism: State, Diaspora, Shipping, and Church—in a logic of equality and mutual respect.
